My Collage career provided me plenty of opportunities to be engaged in various challenges and practice leadership skills. Whenever I plan a Project, I apply the principles of planning methodically and implement same with focus. I am a firm believer that courage, determination, commitment and focus would certainly help accomplish goals and the best way to gain happiness is by giving out happiness to others.
I started my scouting career at the age of twelve as a Junior Scout of 16th Colombo Scout Group, S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. After a year, I had the good opportunity to be a Patrol Leader. As a Junior Scout I won the highest award for Junior Scouting “The Green Cord”, and participated at several Colombo District Scout Camporees. As a Senior Scout I functioned as a Patrol Leader and the Troop Leader. I won the President’s Scout Award and participated at many competitions and provided the leadership to the College troop. As a Rover Scout. I completed the requirements for the “B P’s Award”. Thereafter, I attended scout leadership training programs and was the Scout Leader of S.Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. Meanwhile, I was engaged with various activities in the Colombo District and I functioned as a District Scout Leader, Assistant District Commissioner-Training and as District Commissioner. During this period, I served in many committees of the Colombo District Camporees and also functioned as an Organizing Commissioner of the Colombo District Scout Camporee. Subsequently, after completion of required training, I was awarded the “Wood Badge”. Thereafter, I served in the Colombo District Training Team. During this period, I was awarded with the “Assistant Leader Trainer’s award” and then after following a program in Pachmari, India, I was awarded with the four beads as a “ Leader Trainer “ in 1994. Since then I served as a member of the National Training Team of the Sri Lanka Scout Association until my current appointment as the National Training Commissioner.
Since leaving school, I worked for the Hatton National Bank from 1982 and joined Sampath Bank during its initial year in 1987. Since then, I have covered multiple areas of transactional Banking, with engagement to business locally and internationally. I am a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and hold a Master’s in Business Management. I am a Director of Lanka Financial Services Bureau, Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka and Lanka Bangla Finance Limited Bangladesh. Currently, I function as the Managing Director of Sampath Bank, Sri Lanka.
